Running batch files in windows 8

Windows 8 does not run my batch files. What do I do? I have tried file association but it comes up with "open with" and there is no bat option to choose

In what way are you trying to run them? On my system (Win8 64) they run as expected with a double click.

cmd.exe is the Windows 8 batch interpreter.
At the 'Open with...', look in C:\Windows\System32
