Can someone recommend a good site with info on spotting counterfeit Windows and Office discs? I just got burned with a fake Windows & Home Premium.
I think the Win 7 Pro on my machine right now is real. The DVD (OEM) has a white silkscreen on it with a holograghic band around the outside and around the hub. The bands seem to have MS security features. Arrows on the inside and outside which point to to each other. It also says "Made in Puerto Rico" in the hologram around the outside band on the disc. These holograms are not stickers. They are embedded in the disc.
My Office 2003 however, is questionable. There is a holographic sticker on the disc. While there appears to be an embedded hologram around the hub of the disc, this isn't enough to convince me it's real.
