Gents:

Running Ubuntu 12.04.x:

Building out my Xeon 1240.v2 /MSI...gd55 home workstation. Current step upgraded the monitor to an Auria 27" 2560x1440 and EVGA gtx 650x2gig vidcard. But, the card (110 watt) fails totally (no signal) while my legacy gtx9400 (50 watt) can push the new monitor. Websites claim the 650 is **beloved** of Linux!! Is this an issue with my MSI motherboard not liking the vidcard ... or my "ULTRA" 650W power supply? It's store brand, but claims 60 amps on the 12-volt rail. I am buffaloed.

1st check all the connections
then try connecting via different ports
then check the card in a different pc
if doesnt work RMA the card.
If works throw out the pico PSU and get a cheap CX430
Solved.

**REM** No boot ...but no signal prior to boot. So... finishing one and two I called EVGA. Their tek said likely the MSI Z77A-gd55 BIOS and the EVGA 650x2gig were incompatible. What vidcard can work with BIOS v-1.2 for that MSI mobo? The gtx 9400 can run. Will any of the NVIDIA 400s or 500s like the 550?

Vidcard issue sidestepped! My bad luck to be stuck with an early BIOS in the MSI_gd_55. So ... to replace the failing NV_650 I bought an updated legacy MSI N430x2gig vidcard. It's about twice as able as the GTX9400 it replaces, rebates $70 from the NV_650 and does not embarrass the flawless AURIA 27" monitor. Time enough in the future to think about a BIOS flash & significant PS/Vid upgrade.
