I have set the UEFI bios to run in Legacy OS and disabled all UEFI bios loading so it runs all Legacy OS stuff. Set SATA to RAID/IDE, both 320's are set on ports 1-2 with my SATA DVD drive on Port 5. Unhooked all other drives during install. Used both boot DVD and boot USB windows 7 to fresh install and both end with "Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install windows, restart the installation. I know both boot options work cause in normal SATA mode I was able to install windows 7 on my normal 500g WD. The raid was in my prior socket 775 setup, I reformated and disabled the RAID so it would be fresh in the AM3 setup. I was able to make the raid in the AM3 setup and it even shows when I install RAID drivers during windows install. But for some reason windows will not finish the install, it constantly gives me the exact error no matter what options I change or what device I use to try to install the OS. I might be missing something simple and vital i'm open for opinion at this point cause my 500g write buffer is dying.
Hi, Are the drives connected to the brown SATA ports?
If you install Windows with SATA set to RAID on the 500 HDD but the RAID HDDs connected, does it work? Is the RAID volume seen in Disk management?
Windows does the same issue when the 500g was connected to the brown ports in SATA_RAID had to install with it on the white ports but when I am in windows both the 500g and RAID0 show up in my drive list(I can use both drives for data). When I go to install windows though I have to run the RAID drivers from the motherboard CD before the raid shows up as an option to install on.
this is common problem of this motherboard. I had same problem with most recent BIOS 2301 (newest) and Raid version 3815403 (newest).
Problem is in Raid 0 setup.
Try this setup:
Stripe Block__________256 KB-------------Initialization_____Fast
Gigabyte Boundary____ON------------------Sector Size______512
Read Policy__________Read Ahead-------Write Policy_____WriteBack
I think you can change something but NOT SECTOR SIZE!!! Sector size must be no higher than 512
