RAM and SSD

I'm trying to build an HP Dv6 laptop and when I am customizing it I have the option to add a SSD but if I do I can only have 8GB of RAM. I was just wondering what would be better for gaming and multi-tasking. 8Gb of RAM with a 32GB SSD or 12 Gb of RAM with no SSD? I also have 2Gb of dedicated graphics memory if that makes a difference. Thanks

SSD will not improve your gaming framerate. It will slightly improve loading time though, if that is really important to you.
Personally I find loading time on games like Skyrim fast enough on normal hdd. I don't think adding SSD will be much significant.

In all seriousness, 12gb of RAM is just ridiculous. Not trying to be harsh, but it depends if you really want an ssd or not.

Personally, i'd get the 32gb ssd+8gb ram hands down. You will not find any performance increases in terms of fps going with either ssd or 8gb ram, but what you will see if much better multi tasking compared to a conventional harddrive.

What im not sure is if your laptop is able to accommodate 2 drives, as one 32gb for storage will not be enough for anything but the OS and Office. If the laptop can only hold one drive, then get a traditional hardrive or one of those new hybrid drives (eg seagate momentus xt 750GB).

No its also has a 1TB hard drive. So you're saying 12GB of RAM would just be a waste and that 8GB would be more than enough RAM to run whatever I want. The extra 32GB of SSD acceleration cache would be worth sacrificing the drop in RAM?

Indeed.
