Hi to all,

I have a question about fan splitter cables, simple cheap little things but I've never used them before.

I am about to buy a Fan Controller, (This One), as my case has 8 case fans and they are the Scythes Gentle Typhoons, a few of the 3000rpm version and a few of the 5400rpm, so they are really loud. At the moment using software I can't turn them down to below 40% which means even when idling the PC is still quite loud.
Anyway, I have checked that the fan controller I'm going to buy can handle at least 2 of these fans per channel, which it can, but now I'm going to need some fan splitters. Maybe these: --> Link <--
But I'm not 100% how these work, because 1 of the connectors only has 2 wires, red and black with the yellow missing, does this mean that even with a fan controller 1 fan would be voltage controlled and speed up or down when I adjust it and the other fan wouldn't, i.e. it would spin at full tilt all the time???
So would I need a fan splitter that has 3 wires to "both" connectors???
I've never used these fan splitters before so I'm not sure how they work exactly.

Would really appreciate some help.
Thanks to all

It will still control both fans. the 3rd wire (yellow) is the tacho feed which allows the motherboard/controller to monitor the fan speed, so using the splitter the mobo will monitor the speed of one fan and adjuszt the voltage to both accordingly

Yeah you could be right but I don't wanna take any chances as I've just moved to a different country and temps here in the summer (which lasts about 9 months) are regularly in the mid/high 40c's with 99.9% humidity :-\
I will invest in a custom water cooling system probably next year, but until then, 8 fans lol =)

Arrrr, I thought the yellow had something to do with the speed control. But now you've said that, it makes sense, the MoBo couldn't read 2 different fan speeds at the same time could it.
Silly me I hadn't thought of that xD

Thanks for your help, really appreciate it.
