Hi Guys
OK so i have a faulty hard drive. I bought it second hand and really want to attempt to fix it before i bin it.
Firstly there is no data i want to salvage so doesnt matter how destructive the fixing process is.
OK, so I will try leave a clear line of important points beneath to aid this thread
1. I use windows 7
2. Hard drive is a Western Digital 1TB green and its a Sata.
3. Other hard drives work fine using the same cables and same Sata port
4. When the hard drive is plugged in it slows up the boot up process incredibly and seems to stop entirely before reaching the windows loading screen
5. I have tried booting from windows CD and although it was very slow, i got to the instalation screen and my hard drive wasnt listed
6. I was able to boot from USB to a dos prompt, but was slow
7. When i enter BIOS and go to hard disk priority it looks like this:
CH3 s: ST-modelnumber-blah
CH3 m:
So the faulty hard drive isnt recognized and the model number section is blank
Right, i think thats covered everything so far. Can anyone shed light onto this. Maybe its a known problem to be a 100% trash job. Maybe there are some possible solutions.
Thanks
Joey
