Hi All,

I have a Gigabyte G31M-ES2L mobo and have installed the above Graphics card. I now get BSOD errors after Windows 7 begins its startup. Each time I cold boot the PC it gets about 15 seconds past the appearance of the windows logo on black background during startup and then goes to BSOD. However, after the BSOD reset, windows will often start successfully. Sometimes the BSOD does occur 2 or 3 times but eventually, Windows will always start.

I've put up with this problem for a while but I'm now sick of waiting for ages each time I boot the computer!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Richard

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion. I have installed TuneUp and run the full test and fix. I went to Microsoft and ran directx update and it said I have the latest one. I also ran NVIDIA experience and it upgraded my driver to the latest version. I haven't tried the ECS version of the driver, but I might try that next although I'm doubtful that it will make a difference.

Is there any sort of BIOS update or firmware upgrade required for video cards? I can't find anything about that by Googling.

Cheers,

I just used the onboard graphics. I have tried having both the onboard graphics enabled and disabled with graphics card installed. I am currently running an E6550 processor but previously had the E4300. Power supply is currently a 700 watt Lantec. Previously I had a 450 watt PSU but the upgrade didn't fix the problem.

Does the 9800GT have an upgradeable BIOS? Because I have recently upgraded the mobo bios to the latest FI version?

Download Furmark burn in and run it for 20 minutes to see if there will be any crashes.

Run dxdiag from RUN option in start menu and click on video tab to see if there are any errors.

9800GT versions do not have upgradable BIOS. I am using one in one of my PC's.

Have you bought it new, refurbished or used? It may be mailfuntioning video card.
