Can't change GPU Fan Speed

Hi guys,

I've recently installed a xfx radeon hd 7870 DD card, and it works just fine.

The only problem i have is that the fanspeed is constantly running at 3200 rpm, which is not really comforting for the ears. The card isn't hot or anything, temps are around 43 degrees celsius.

When I go into the ccc, the automatic fan speed is enabled, so shouldn't the speed drop in idle mode? It also says that my fan is running at 36%, i can't imaging that 3200 rpm is 36%.

Also, when I try to manual lower the fanspeed to like 25%, nothing happens, it keeps running at around 3200 rpm.

I've also tried msi afterburner, but I cant change the fan speed with that either.

I removed removed the previous drivers with the installation program for the new drivers before I installed the latest drivers

Is this a software problem? Or is my GPU faulty?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Well it could be since you have double fans. Maybe it's 2*1600 and that's ok :)

Best tweaking tool for ATI cards I have ever seen is ati tray tools. Simple, and works like a charm.

Wow you guys are fast :) . I will give ati tray tools a go.

I hope that what you say is correct. But still shouldn't i be able to change the fan speed through ccc? My brother got the same card as me, and when he starts up it makes the same amount of noise, but when he is in windows, the card automaticly goes down to the point you don't hear it at all. Mine keeps sounding like an airplane lifting off, which i don't want to have to listen to when my pc is just doing it's thing in windows :p  Also, he can adjust fanspeed in ccc, he can make it scream like a little pig or make it completely unnoticable. I like to do the same with my card.
