Okay, so installed a new graphics card and now I have a GTX 680 SLI set up. I have 2 monitors hooked up to the same card. My HDTV through the HDMI and my BenQ through DL DVI.

Before I installed the second card I was able to go to playback devices and it would show the model number of my TV as a audio device. It is not giving me that option anymore.

Even when I make it show disabled devices and unconnected devices it is not appearing... what it is showing me though is that I have 4 NVIDIA outputs (ports 0-3) and they all say they are unplugged.

I went into the NVIDIA control panel to set up digital audio and it is listing my monitor as an audio device but still it is not being listed as playback device under the sound settings/control panel.

I've also tried plugging it into the second GPU and the motherboard, with no luck.

That is going on here?

I have the P67 FTW board, with two 560 TIs in SLI. I had this same issue once I inserted the second GPU. I was good for six months before i picked up my second card, and as soon as i put the second card in, my audio on my mobo was disabled, as was the audio on my case ports. I know that sometimes it disables it via bios, so i would check there to see if the audio is turned off.

however, i came to find that mine was 100 turned off for some unknown reason, i can get audio through my HDMI, but as i said, my mobo and case audios are either fried or hard disables... nothing i could do would turn it back on... however, i did pick up a cheap 30-40$ sound card from my local computer shop, and inserted it between my cards.. (doesnt affect air flow, and twas a slot i wouldnt be using anyways.)

in the end, i dont have a clue as to what happened with my shit... but im assuming if you check the bios settings for sound, as well as reinstalling your sound drivers (ive been told that sometimes nvidia will overrule those drivers and disable things)

yeah i will check the bios but i can connect headphones and the sound works its simply something to do with the hdmi not recognizing, i will also see what i can do about the drivers when i get home from work tonight. that sounds like a solid call on reinstalling the drivers, in doing so it should allow me to override nvidia. this whole situation is simply annoying, i know theres plenty of work arounds to get sound out of the monitor but i want to understand why its doing this and want to continue the same set up i had before, thanks for the info.

if anyone else has any useful info that would be appreciated! thanks
