I am looking to buy either a GTX 670 or a 680 depending on my financial situation in a few months but i was wondering weather i will need to upgrade my PSU from the current one i have (Corsair CX500) to a 600 or higher.
Any help appreciated.

Edit: Intel core i5 3570K (not OC'd), 8GB Corsair Vengence RAM, OCZ 60GB SSD, 1TB WD green
Oh and the 670 im planning on getting is: http://goo.gl/6rOis and the 680: http://goo.gl/21cYq

Well, as I see it, your system + gtx570 should use ~430W max. Add about 50W for some headroom and it should still be OK. The gtx580 eats ~25 more than the gtx570 so you might be pushing your luck a bit.

Overclocked cards obviously draw more power. Like EVGA recommends, for the GTX 680 you should have a 550W PSU... What their recommendation doesn't take into account however, is the CPU power draw and the power supply's efficiency rating. Your PSU should be able to put out a constant ~400W at 100% usage, but all power supplies perform different and may have their efficiency reduced overtime in use.

So I can't give you a 100% guarantee but they should both work with your current PSU, the 670 at least will for sure. You shouldn't pay extra for the 4Gb VRAM version though if you're gaming on a 1080p screen.
