Hi!

I would like to ask if two HD 5770 will work in an AsRock Z75 Pro3 mobo.
I'm not totally sure how to understand the AsRock website. It supports:

- 1 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot (PCIE2: x16 mode)
- 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot (PCIE3: x4 mode)
- 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x1 slot
- 2 x PCI slots
- Supports AMD Quad CrossFireX™ and CrossFireX™

Is that mean that the 2nd card will work in x16 or x4?
Will I notice any difference with a card like HD 5770 in x4 mode?
I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 Vapor-X edition, can I crossfire with other manufacturer's HD 5770s?
Is a HD 5750 would mean great performance loss (because I found a HD 5750 Vapor-X at a great price)?

Sorry for the lot of questions :)
I'm just new at Crossfire.

Solution
The second PCIe slot is the size of a full x16 slot, but only provides an x4 connection. Crossfire will work, but in x16/x4 mode. You can use a different 5770, they'll just be limited to the clocks of the slower card (if there is a difference). You can also use a 5750, but then it will limit your 5770 to the performance of a 5750.

And of course, these configurations are probably quite susceptible to microstuttering. You might want to consider selling the 5770 and buying a faster, single card.

Edit: As for the performance impact of only having an x4 connection for the second card, the article below suggests it won't be crippling.
