This is hypothetical, but if a faulty Corsair PSU were to damage my CPU would I be entitled to compensation for the damage?
As it is my CPU may be fine, until I receive a new PSU I won't know. But I understand it is possible for it to have been damaged, I have talked to Intel who had this to say about the warranty on it.
"In general, if the CPU has been damaged due to another component (e.g. motherboard sending overly high voltage), it's unfortunately not covered by the warranty, as the product did not fail because it was faulty, it was damaged."

Which I understand, but surely I should be entitled to some sort of compensation from Corsair due to the product being faulty, right?

Also, posting this in Power Supplies because I'm not too sure on where I should be posting it.

Hi :)

In THEORY yes, in practice NO as you would have to PROVE to a court what caused the cpu damage...

And to be honest its extremely rare for it to happen....

All the best Brett :)

Oh, I am happy if it is just the Motherboard. I mean I'd prefer that both be okay but if it is just the motherboard I can replace that the CPU (i7-3770K) I can not. Not for at least a year :(

It is almost impossible for a faulty power supply to damage the CPU, this is because the CPU power is supplied by its own power supply on the motherboard. I have seen hundreds of faulty motherboards caused by faulty power supplies but not one of them damaged the CPU.
