I have had a Acer Aspire 7741G-7017 for about three years.
I'm running Windows 7.
Just yesterday, its been causing problems. When I turned it on:
It loads the Startup screen.
It loads my desktop wallpaper.
My mouse shows up.
There are no desktop icons.
The Taskbar only loads two icons in the tray: the battery icon and the sound icon; the sound says "sound service is not running"
When I hover my mouse over my task bar, it shows the hovering circle, signaling that it is not responsive.
Ctrl Alt Dlt does nothing.
Some things I am aware of:
Safe Mode seems to work fine.
Low Resolution mode had the same problem.
Last Good configuration gave a me a Blue Screen of Death and then restarted.
Removing my battery does not help.
Removing all things plugged into my laptop does not help
I did a System Restore in safe mode and that didn't help. (And it deleted all my previous restore points: i did not know that would happen)
Startup Repair detected no errors.
My hard drive does not seem to have errors.
I do not believe I have a virus. (Thus, I believe I have a hardware/driver issue)
My problem sounds similar to the black screen of death people seem to have where nothing loads and only the mouse responds.
Also, whenever my laptop turns on or off, there's this random white flicker that sort of looks like static. It's very quick, like half a second. I'm scared that I might have been way too rough with my computer and broke something inside.
