Games Not Working at All

My computer recently has stopped running all of my games on Steam and not on Steam as well. They take long times to boot and sometimes do not boot at all. If they do boot, I can't get past a loading screen before the game jams and I have to struggle to close it down on Task Manager. Also, on Task Manager Processes, these games are draining way too much memory. I once left one of my games to load for about 20 minutes and I came back to see it was jammed, using 1,000,000 k of memory. Does anyone know what's wrong with my computer and can I fix it?

1. I've ran checks on the ram. No errors were reported after 11 cycles.
2. I've ran a 3D bench marking program and the videos had slightly bad fps, but they ran.
3. I've checked for viruses multiple times using Vipre Pro, and nothing has come up.
4. I've reinstalled Windows 7 and completely wiped my hard drive space and that has had any effect.
5. I've used PC Matic and though it fixed many problems, this problem did not go away.

If its not malware or a virus then I think most likely your hard drive is dying, did you have any problems or slowdowns when you reinstalled? Its not the problem but why do you have 6Gb RAM if its not 2 pairs of 1 & 2 then its not running in dual channel as it should be.

I haven't really touched the ram. It came as it did when I purchased my computer 5 years ago from the Dell site. Reinstalling Windows 7 wasn't slow or anything.

Yes, you are right about that. I changed my motherboard and put in a new processor right after Christmas, I believe. The ram went into the new motherboard and seemed to be doing fine up to this point. Okay so, just using task manager, here is a bazaar number. I only have one Google Chrome window up and it's take 3 processes, one of them is 80,000k and rising, 52,000k and rising, and 49k and rising. What does that example show?

This has me fairly confused I think you should try running CPUz & GPUz to check the CPU & GPU are running as they should be. Am I correct in thinking these games have worked since the motherboard/CPU upgrade and the power supply worked fine with the 480 before?

when did this problem first present itself exactly? My guess would be a failing HDD at first, but you say you've reinstalled win7 with no problems, so it clearly isn't the case. Even if ram is running in single channel it shouldn't have such huge problems. I'd say make sure you've got latest GPU drivers and that you've installed all the appropriate hardware drivers for your newer motherboard.
