I set up a dual boot on a 500 GB SSD. Cloned Windows 7 from a smaller SSD then installed Windows 8 on a seconD d partition. It takes a full 60 seconds to reach the dual boot screen. It then loads very quickly. Here is what I've tried to fix:
1. Refreshed windows 8
2. removed all devices except keyboard and mouse
3. made sure all drivers were current
4. Updated the bios on my P8Z68-V PRO motherboard
6. replaced my MB battery
I cloned Win 7 first then installed Win 8. My MB does not support safe boot. Microsoft can't tell me what's wrong.
Any ideas on how to fix?

Yes only connected the Intel SATA 6 (SSD) and Intel SATA 3 ports (HDD) nothing to the Marvell. It boots fine if I set Windows 7 as the default. Win 8 takes forever.
thanks

I hope not, would hate to have to re install. Somethings churning and trying to load when I boot up. It is definetly Windows 8 related. I change the default upon boot 7 loads quickly
thanks for your ideas

Could be something to do with the use of abbreviated Hibernation that 8 employs to achieves fast boot, like it doesn't agree with dual booting. You could try disabling hibernation to see if that makes a difference. Elevated CMD prompt (Winkey + X, Command Prompt (Admin)) and type powercfg hibernate off then Enter. The Hibernate feature doesn't significantly alter boot times when installed on SSD
