Hey guys, so I have a really weird issue. After flashing a new BIOS, my laptop display is no longer working. I've installed a custom display in my laptop and it was working fine before the BIOS flash. The BIOS flash was clean, and I can still access my laptop through an external display over HDMI. The laptop display also seems to be working. I can adjust the backlight, but the screen remains black. I've also tried another working display, which exhibits the same behavior. The display shows up under device manager as "Digital Flat Panel (1024 x 768)" when in fact it's a 1600x900 monitor and usually shows up as "Generic PnP Monitor"

I've already tried:
* Flashing back to the old BIOS
* Pulling out the battery and pressing the power button for a minute
* Resetting the CMOS by pulling the battery for a minute

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, but there don't seem to be any drivers for the display. Windows Update was unable to find any and neither was I.

It was working with my laptop before the BIOS flash. It's not officially supported though.

I can get into the BIOS fine, but nothing shows up on the screen. I can tell I'm in BIOS because I can change options (which I have memorized) and they work like they should.

I have googled a bit and it seems that lot of people had your issues. Unfortunately only conclusion is that flash did not go so clean. Roll back bios on laptop is not an option in most cases, or it will be shown as done, but no real effect will be achieved. Only way to fix it, as i see it is to try to get newer version of bios, or use failsafe method of flashing which is not recomended and to be used only when nothing else is possible.

Thanks a lot for the info. I have indeed tried reflashing the BIOS which didn't seem to work. What is this "failsafe" method?

This is boot method http://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/phoenix-bios-recovery/

but the problem is that there is no Bios rom file listed, only win application. And since there is no other way to find reliable ROM files other than on manufacturers sites i think your hands are tied.

Try to reflash it again with latest BIOS and follow correct procedure. If that does not work it's time to contact Sony support.

I have access to a ROM file from the manufacturer (you can just extract it from the application). I'll try that.
