Hi there,

This computer is not fancy and new but it was working fine. I fiddled with it a bit, like you know opening it up and playing with cables, putting another Hard Drive etc. but I don't think I forgot to put anything back in place. Today, when booting it is stuck in the BIOS screen. The screen is flaky. Also there is no alarm when I turn computer on, as an indicator of wrong cables and ... What do you think is wrong with it? Any suggestions what to do?

Thanks

I might suggest posting a picture of what you've got going on inside - I would be inclined to believe something like the 4 or 8 pin cpu power connector is loose or not connected (sounds like off hand), possible the 24 pin connector is loose - I'd want to check that first

This forum doesn't allow me to add an image so I'll just paste the link here. Here is the screen:

As you can see it's frozen and there are some striped patterns. I have to say that typing on keyboard is disabled too.
What's wrong?

Thanks

After checking to ensure all cables are snugly connected to their respective connectors, and making sure any ram, graphics card or... are firmly in place, you can try resetting CMOS by removing the battery from the motherboard (with the power supply unplugged - it should be anyway any time you are inside the machine), waiting 5-10 seconds and replacing the battery (make sure you note which way is up first)

No I didn't remove it but I'll apply some thermal paste and let you know what happens.
