Ok, so i've been researching computer components for my first gaming build and I wanted some opinions and/or suggestions. My goal is to play any current games (Crysis 3, BF3, Planetside 2) on ultra graphics on a single monitor (30 FPS and up).
So here's the specs:
Processor: Intel i7-3770k lga 1155 socket
Graphics Card: Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V
Case: Haf 912
Power Supply: Haven't chosen yet. Any recommendations?
Disk Drive: " "
SDD: " "

Solution

i7 is overkill.
If you don't need an OS, this thing can and will kill everyone and their mother.
(Assuming you don't need storage because you're reusing. If not, then just say.)

If you need storage, change the mobo to this:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-maximusvgene
and get these 2:
SSD: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7td120bw
HDD:http://pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wdbaaz0010hncnrsn

Thanks for the input :D
Anyway, yes i do need an OS (forgot to mention). I was planning to get Windows 7. Also why is i7 overkill exactly? Would i only need it if i was trying to Crossfire or something? And why should i get an SSD and an HDD? Sorry im just very scared (this being my first build haha)

A very small difference for about 100$, which you can beef up a GPU with. Do you already have a hard drive that you're willing to reuse? If so, just go with Win7 and get the SSD. If you don't have a hard drive, go with the hard drive I linked to with a copy of Win 7. An HDD is a hard drive, which is where you store your data. An SSD is a solid state drive, which is smaller, but much faster. Also, games are more GPU dependent. Like I said, the difference is about 5 frames, whereas the 670 will net about 10-20 frames.

Windows: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/microsoft-os-gfc02050
Put more priority into the HDD, storage is more important than speed. Finally, install Windows on the SSD, it's the only thing that needs the speed.

I'd check out this hard drive instead, tt's cheaper and has bigger a cache.

If you are still considering a SSD a Samsung 830 is still a good option too and you might be able to get one pretty cheap now.

I also don't know about that cooler either, it wasn't reviewed well on part picker. I would check out the cooler master EVO 212. You can also take a look at these articles.
