Possibly underperforming 7770 hd?

Hi,
I had a question regarding my video card, I'm a fairly casual gamer who just switched over from xbox to pc. I upgraded my video card to a SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16.

Im running on an old LCD monitor (1280 x 1024) and wanted to play BF3 and arma 3 alpha. I do not need to run on ultra or even high, just wanted an acceptable framerate on medium-ish settings.

I can play the games above but I still have lower than expected FPS on all the games:

BF3 - Medium: ~15-20 FPS Arma 3 Alpha - Standard: ~8-12 FPS (low is actually worse). This was the same I got when I tried Dayz too.

I ran 3dmark 11 and got a score of 2420, and systems comparable to mine were all above 3200, according to the website.

This is the rest of my setup:
Windows 7 Pro 64
AMD Phenom x4 955 3.2 Ghz black edition
8 GB ddr3 ram (2 4GB sticks)
500W Power supply
BIOSTAR A780L3L AM3 AMD 760G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Is this expected from the video card? Could I have a bottleneck somewhere? I know the 7770 HD is a mid range card at best, but i thought it would have a bit better performance due to my low resolution and not running things on ultra.
Thanks!
