I have been delaying buying a new PSU for some time. My computer now will not power on, when I hit the power button the case fans, start spinning slow. The PSU fan moves glitchy ( it's trying to start but it can't for some reason, if I spin it it goes slow ) and the GPU fans do not come on. My MOBO light is solid green but my case LED light flickers on and off.

I think it's my PSU it's been doing this on start the past couple of months but once the computer has started it's run normal with no issues. Now it won't POST.

Thanks in advance for any help my computer specs are as below:

OCz Stealthxteme 500w PSU
Asus M5A97 mobo
ATI 6950 2GB XFX GPU
8GB OCz ram.
AMD T1055 Processor
NZXT Tempest case.

I tried clearing out the computer also with compressed air. No help, also checked all the connections as well as unplugged the video card. Same issue.

Also would this PSU be worth the upgrade to?

It would be worth to upgrade to it, flawless PSU according to hardware secrets. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Corsair-GS700-Bronze-Power-Supply-Review/1617/11

But that does not mean that your PSU is failling. I had same issue and it was because my GPU went down.

It's probable that is PSU problem but it does not has to be.

Unplugg something from system, like optical drive or some case fans to see will it start. Also you can unplug your GPU and test will it turn on.

i've tested it without my GPU plugged in, no luck. Also unplugged the side and top fans, same thing no luck

Another observation I had is when I switch the PSU off on the back of the PSU, it gets full power, everything acts normal for 2 seconds then it cuts off.

I tried the paperclip test, put 1 end in green and the other in black while not plugged into anything other than the wall, no luck, fan did not budge nothing happened. Guess that means the PSU failed.

Have you discharged capacitors prior to performing paperclip test?

Hold power button on PC while PSU is not plugged into wall. After that perform paperclip test. But first put clip in 24 pin connector and then plugg your PSU or start with power switch on PSU.

If that fails then you now which shelf to look in store :)

Thanks again for the replies.

I flipped the PSU power switch to off, put it in, flipped it on, nothing. then I tried it with it on, no luck. I think the psu is dead, im taking a psu out of an older dell I have to see if I can get power to my current computer, it's only 350W though do I doubt it powers the video card, but it should atleast let me know for sure the PSU is dead.

Take video card out before you do that. You don't need it for it and you'll avoid risk of damage.
