Hi, i am having some gpu issues again with my SLI configurated 2x PNY GTX 580's, last time it helped to unplug the cards, switch places and reinstall drivers, but now im pretty sure one of the gpu's is faulty since i cant use it at all without getting a code 43 error... So i decided to run a single 580, but how to connect all my three monitors?
So i found an old geforce 6800 which still runs "great" and plugged it in, obviously i use the healthy 580 for physx, but will it in any way harm my pc that im using such an old card as well? Unfortunately i cant run nvidia surround with these hardware changes, but at least i get to keep my three monitors, which i've become ver accustumed to having... So, could this be a long term solution until i can afford the 680/690, or should i hurry up and unplug the 6800?

My system specs are
i7 2600k 4,4ghz
Corsair AX1200 psu
Asus sabertooth p67 motherboard
16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz ram

it won't harm your rig using an old gpu but my question is why use the 6800 as you main gpu and the gtx 580 as physx and not the other way around?

as for hooking up multi monitor you just need to use the the ports on the gtx 580 (if main gpu)...you may need some adapters to make it work but all the video ports are capable of output at the same time.

@DiaSin, cant fit all the cables in there because of the 580's placing in the cabinet
@AtomicWAR, im confused, i thought that dedicating my 580 made it my main gpu? It's in the 1st slot, and it's the one my computer displays as default GPU

Im still confused.. How is it partially blocked? Is it not in a normal expansion slot on your PC case? If your 580 does not fit properly how do you expect upgrading to a 680/690 to let you attach more monitors? Plugs will still be blocked.
