After upgrading to Windows 7 youtube slows down internet ping tremendously

So I just upgraded from Windows XP 32bit to Windows 7 64bit and whenever anyone in my house or me watches a youtube video my computers internet ping is increased drastically from a stable 30 to 400. This also happens to every other computer in the house with windows 7 although we didn't notice it until I upgraded since I'm the only one playing video games (specifically dota2/league of legends) where ping is incredibly important.

What could be the cause for this? My internet connection is 10mbps up 1mbps down, I use a cable, even when I'm the only one connected to the modem and I have a youtube video in the background it happens. It never happened with windows xp.

(not sure this is the right place to put it?)

It's not actually your windows 7 upgrade that is causing this, youtube is now a little slow, maybe to many videos, to much trafic...

Did you have a router at home ?? you can set some rules in there to limit others bandwith and keep the better ping possible...

LOL isn't bandwith dependant at all (10kbps is the more i've seen) but the ping is really important... Can you shut down any computer totally when testing to see if that's actually the problem ???

Maybe too much users on the same line too (i have 60mbits and at 3 peoples, that's not a luxurious thing at all as 15 mbits was causing many lag issue with all our rig cause the modem wasn't capable of handling the traffic... the new modem include an internal switch and that correct the problem for the 3 of us, we can torrent, game and skype without any lag now...)

It started happening right after I installed windows 7, I am not connected through a router, I tried having only me connected to the internet and that doesn't fix it, this happens only with youtube and streaming sites such as twitch by the way, so we can still download without having high ping.
