Hey, so I'm about to build a new PC for gaming. Currently, I have 2 builds in mind, but I'm not so sure which will be better. It would be great if you guys could help me out :D

GPU: AMD 7850/NVidia 660ti
CPU: AMD FX-6100 3.3 GHz/Intel i5 3450
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990GXA-UD3/Asus P8-z77-v le
Harddrive: Will be using my old one
RAM: I have no idea. 8GB will do, just not sure about the brand :p
CD Drive: Will be using my old one
PSU: Corsair TX650 or any other 650W/600W PSU

That's pretty much it! Sorry if most of the stuff here are wrong, I'm bad with computers but I'm willing to learn! So thanks in advance! :D

i would go witht he intel CPU and the 7850 (only if you never plan on multi gpu then its the gtx660ti), your PSU is fine and for ram 8 gigs is plenty for games...corsiar, g.skill, patriot and geil have all treated me well...if you go intel just make sure you don't get a ram with voltage over 1.5v anything higher will roast your cpu and not g.skill ares as it will do the same as some of its voltages like vicco are to high. ram speed i would go at least ddr3 1600

So here's the build now:

GPU: SAPPHIRE 100355-1GOCL Radeon HD 7850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card OC Version
CPU: Intel Core i5-3450 Ivy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.5GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2500 BX80637I53450
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V LE LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10
PSU: Corsair TX650

The total price is around $700. $700 is a bit too much for me as it would leave me with little to no money left. Is there a way to lower the total cost? Maybe different parts? I could go with 4GB of RAM, but I had bad experiences with 4GB. Thanks! :D

no i would stick with 8 gigs....i know it is a lot of money but aside from cutting your GPU down a notch to 7770 and even then i wouldn't touch a thing if it were me... i think its a good build. you go with an amd build around a fx 8350 and 790chip set. beyond that i wouldn't cut any more corners.

Thanks for the reply :D
So I did some research and found that the fx 8350 was the same price as the i5 3450! Now that's awesome! 8 cores!
Since I'm now going with the fx 8350, I was wondering which motherboard would be good.
Here's what I found:
ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard ($95)
MSI 990FXA-GD65V2 Desktop Motherboard - AMD 990FX Chipset - Socket AM3+ ($129)

Which would be better? I couldn't find a 790 chipset one, so I'm guessing you meant 970. With a cheaper motherboard, I can probably use the saved money and get a 2GB 7850. What do you think?

Thanks! I think I'll be going with the Extreme 4.
What about the GPU? 1GB or 2GB? I know for some GPUs, 1GB is actually better than the 2GB version. Is the 2GB version worth it? I might get a second 7850 in the future for Crossfire, so will there be a difference if I pick the 1GB version over the 2GB? Sorry for asking so many questions. I'm not that knowledgeable with computers. :p
