Hi,
Please can you guys help,

I have recently bought a Dell Ultrasharp U2713hm, which I have plugged into my Samsung 7 Series Gamer laptop, with a displayport connector.

At the top of the screen I can notice a faint horizontal bar running from one end to the other, it does not move at all. It is more apparent with daker colours on screen.
I have tried uninstalling the 675m drivers and reinstalling them, playing with different resolutions, but nothing has changed.
When I plugged the vga cable in, I don't think the bar was there, however it seems to slowly materialise as the monitor is left on, so maybe I need to leave that cable in.
The bar is not there, when the cable is unplugged and the monitor is blank, with the menus on screen.
Also, the problem does not exist on my laptop screen.

Unfortunately I do not have another PC to test the issue, but I was thinking, could it be the displayport cable (I have ordered a new one), or the socket connectors on the Dell or the Samsung, or the monitor?

Has anyone had any experience of this?

Thanks.

Easiest way would be to either try the VGA cable and actually see if there is a bar there or not since "I don't think the bar was there, home it seems" is not a validate scientific test to help determine anythinge.

Also, no one else in the world you know has a PC you try plugging into it for 30 seconds and see? Are you using HDMI to Displayport, I don't know many laptops that have a displayport on them. If you're using an HDMI to Displayport, you can borrow someones bluray player, PS3, 360, something to help narrow things down.

Thank you for your reply, my laptop has a Displayport socket, so it is Displayport to Displayport.

I will try the VGA test again. If I used an HDMI to Displayport would I still be able to get 2560 x 1440 res? This resolution is the one I want to use for my purposes.

Thanks

Just did the VGA test, the bar is there, I don't know why I didn't see it the last time. I guess I need to try another PC\Laptop.
Seeing as the laptop screen is fine, does that mean it is most likely to be a problem with the monitor?
