Normally bios updates are to fix incompatibilities and sometimes improve overclocking(technically this can give more performance
).
It is generally recommended not to update unless you require it(ie. cpu mis-detect/card not working/ssd not detected/memory not working ect).
Sometimes updates include firmware for other parts of the board as well like a new Intel Rapid Storage firmware.
