Hey guys, i need you help.

In most games that I play I have FPS drops which result in small Lags or
even freezes which don't last very long but are really annoying.
I nearly tried everything but I don't seem to be able to fix it on my own.
Here's my System:

Intel I7 3770
Evga GTX 570 sc
Asrock Z77 Pro4
Be Quiet 850W PSU
2x4gb 1600 Ram
OCZ Vertex 60gb SSD
Hitachi 2tb HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

-clean windows install
-up to date drivers
-tried 3 different hdd's
-cpu, motherboard and ram are completely new
-heating problems can be crossed off
-tried 2 different psu's aswell
-no background programs or services
-tried many different bios settings
-perf-/resoursce Monitors show that cpu and ram are stable
-no overclocking

In older games like World of Warcraft the Burning crusade I have around 400 FPS,
but even if it drops just a little bit It causes this lag / freeze.

Now, what else could I try ?
If u have any suggestions, please let me know, thank you very much !

You may be feeling the drop if fps(400 to 300 could feel bad) so try with Vysnc on in your games to see if it is better. This will lower your fps to that of your screen and try to keep it steady.

The down sides. You may drop further if you get under 60(assumes you are using a 60hz refresh screen) and it may cause some input delay.

Another thing to watch out for is that MMO games tend to load things(maps and players) on the fly. This can lead to sudden drops in performance(entering a town or large battle) while the game grabs the meshes and textures for upcoming objects or players(then it generally smooths right back out). Maybe the game on the SSD will reduce this, but I am not 100% sure if can be fully removed(without a rewrite of the game engine).

Sega's PSU(Phantasy Star Universe) games used to give all players a basic character(they all looked the same) look then load it or them slowly to avoid this. Vindictus does something like this, but it still seems to load lots on the fly.

Thank you nuke for your answer. I tried running it on the SSD, didn't help. I tried capping my FPS to 100 didn't help. For some wierd reason using v-sync seems to work for now, but Im gonna try some other games. Btw I have a 120HZ monitor so I don't really care.

It seems like activating v-sync doesn't work in every game that I play. In games like MW2 or Diablo III or even Path of Exile I am still experiencing horrible performance. Do you have any other solutions ?

I opened up MSI afterburner and with v-sync on and stable 60 fps, I still couldn't really play for example kingdom of amalur: reckoning, because it just doesn't run smooth at all. Maybe this helps: I tried everything but Diablo 3 is completely unplayable on my pc, I don't know why. Maybe this game has something that other games don't have as much. Maybe whatever it is causes my problem. I tweaked every setting but this game is really really bad. In most games though I can see a very small FPS drop when such a lag occurs, for example in Path of Exile, which otherwise runs perfectly smooth, exept these small lags every 10 seconds. Please, whatever something comes to your mind, tell me.
Thank you very much.

I would think maybe you have stuff(textures/ect) loading on mmo games, but your system should be able to handle those games.

With v-sync, if you drop under lets say 60 you drop to 30. Wonder if you are feeling that. can you try the MSI afterburner fps limit and use 30 just to see what it does.

I know 30 fps seems bad, I just wonder if it is a drop from 60 -> 30 you are feeling or not. Also after you play at a lower frame rate, you kind of self adjust to it. So while it will feel strange at first it may still be playable at least for some tests.

I do not know how much you read on Tom's, but they and several other had a new benchmark showing that while game fps looks like one thing, frame delay can cause stuttering and such. That said, this may happen on single cards as well and be more noticeable to some users.

When I played Return to Castle Wallenstein on newer hardware it just felt jumpy. I think it may have been the same thing, for that game(because it is OpenGL) forcing v-sync and triple buffering helped. It was almost like the frame rates must have been shooting all over causing huge variations in frame time.

Tom's covered multi card setups, but some others have covered single cards as well. It honestly explains why what looks like a solid 60/120 fps can seem more jumpy at times.

Thanks again for your reply. I do not drop down to 30fps, with or without v-sync on. In Diablo 3 for example I drop to around 51,55 fps with v-sync enabled. Without v-sync enabled it seems like it doesn't drop any frames at all, and it's at a stable 200 fps, but it still lags a lot ! It's not just my imagination, I can not play any game like this and I still couldn't find the reason. Do you have any other ideas ?
