Might not be the same but i had a similar issue, I traced the fault to the Memory. I use 2 GSkill 4GB memory sticks 1600Mhz i had to change the memory frequency to 1333Mhz. I used memtest to test the ram and 1 of the sticks failed every time when set at 1600Mhz in bios but passed every time on 1333Mhz i have had no freezing since.

I dont know if you have done this already but What temperatures are you getting on both GPU and CPU (need to eliminate overheating)? To test both download the temperature monitoring software such as http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html (if you dont have any software installed) and use a torture test for your CPU, Prime95 is good for that. If thats ok the test your GPU temps using FurMark (or similar prog). Sorry its long winded but fault finding is not an exact science lol

Furmark: 88c
Occt: 60c and then freezes and restarts

I want to add that now even while on windows doing nothing the PC restarts itself without warning.

Help......
