I got given this laptop and i have formatted and re installed XP and it works like it did new but in today's world its slower than a granny with a broken zimmer frame. The question I have, is there any point in keeping this? Can i use it for anything other than slow web browsing or shall i just give it one of the kids to break?

There's always a use for old hardware. Since it's a laptop you're limited in that category but if you got a hold of some RAM, upgrading it would be pretty easy. Simple office processing and web browsing, you could teach your kids the basic functions of Windows too.
