Its always worth a shot. Depending on the game you can anywhere from 5-10 FPS. It also gives you some great experience and knowledge of your PC, its always good to know how far your machine can be pushed. As a note when overclocking dont do to much to fast, be patient and use small increments then test for stability. Some people have a habit of pushing Voltage, core and memory clocks to the max from the start and then pop no more GPU.

Your PSU doesn't matter much once you get your graphics card running. Look around the internets for what other people managed to overclock out of their 550 Ti.

Based on what you find, figure out a safe overclock that most or all of them could achieve. From there on you're on your own raising the Core/Memory/Shader clocks little by little, until it becomes unstable.

If you are new to overclocking I suggest not altering core voltages, as forcing your GPU too much can result in permanent damage or shorten its lifespan. Most cards are voltage locked anyways.
