My ASUS P6X58D-E motherboard/computer (Intel i7 930) has worked fine for several years, but when I turned it on the other day it would not post. Here's what's happened since:

1. I found that the red MemOK! light was on continuously. When I tried to reset the memory by pushing the MemOK button the light would not blink, but the computer would switch OFF and ON several times if I held the button down. All the fans work, including the PS, and it seems that a signal is momentarily going to the hard drives.

2. I pulled the three memory modules (Corsair CMX6GX3M3C1600C7) and tried each one separately in the first (blue) slot.

3. I swapped out the power supply with a new one (even though the old unit checked out with a tester).

4. I pulled out all the accessory boards (USB, modem) except the video card.

5. I swapped the video card with another.

The problem remains.

I should also mentioned that I updated the BIOS about two weeks ago and had no problems until now.

I'm not sure what's left at this point. I'd appreciate any suggestions on further trouble-shooting my computer. Has anyone else had the same difficulties?

Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestion, however I found the solution and I feel pretty stupid. Although I had changed the BIOS battery less than a year ago, I forgot that superstorm Sandy left me without power for ten days, and probably drained the battery. I reset the BIOS (there's a recessed button on the back panel of the computer) and this brought the motherboard back to life. I had to modify the BIOS settings for my memory etc. but everything worked out OK (so far). Now to Radio Shack for a replacement CR2032.
