Mobo sli and soundcard

Solution
Ok, I see. If you put your GPU in the top slot, then the audio card, then the other GPU in the bottom slot you should be fine. They have those smalls pace gaps in between the slots for precisely this reason.

The gpu going in the top pcie x16 shouldn't cover the pci slot below should it? Its kinda hard to tell from pictures how much room there is :/

Looking at that motherboard, it looks as though they put enough room between the PCIe x16 and the PCI slot for it to work. The configuration would be GPU, Audio Card, GPU and it looks as if the GPUs would both only cover up the PCIe x1 slots.

If this is not the same motherboard you're looking at or is a different model you could present a link to the one you're talking about and I can take a look at that one too. I know there are a variety of different chipsets on the same motherboard that occasionally come with different models that are labeled similarly.

Yeah I was looking at the version without the thunderbolt ports as I have no need for them, it seems to be a slightly different layout http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%20Extreme6/
