Dell Inspiron B130 Motherboard Problems

The AC Adapter was not connecting properly to the motherboard resulting in it being difficult to charge the battery without fidgeting with the cord until it was able to receive a signal.

I assumed that this was a motherboard issue so I ordered a replacement motherboard and have ran into other problems. After replacing the motherboard, the laptop would power on, but there was no display on the screen. I am not sure if that is from the integrated graphics card not working or if there is another problem that I am unaware of. I connected another monitor to see if it would show anything, but it gave the same result of a black screen.

I thought that the motherboard was faulty and I changed it back to the old motherboard and now the laptop powers on for about 5 seconds and shuts off. There is no display and I am not sure what the problem is. I read some articles and it may be the CMOS battery, but I am not sure.

Any suggestions for me to do now?

Honestly I don't know. I'm fixing it for my cousin and I told him that he would most likely need to purchase a new motherboard to fix the problem. About 2 months later my grandma brings the new motherboard home with her with no information.

It looks relatively new, but I'm sure it's been used.

Hi :)

Second hand laptop motherboards from an unknown supplier are usually dead....as you noticed...

Laptop repair shop for diagnosis is my best suggestion...

All the best Brett :)

Well I replaced it back with the old motherboard and it only turns on for a couple seconds and shuts off. What could the problem of this be? Is it the CMOS battery and what should I do to fix it?

Hi :)

Not cmos battery...

More likely a charging/power problem...

All the best Brett :)

Well the laptop was working fine before as long as you had the AC Adapter positioned correctly for it to charge (which was difficult to do). So I don't see why it would have any problems if I returned it to the original position that it was in before I changed motherboards. Also the battery was fully charged before I started replacing the motherboard with the new one so I don't think it has anything to do with the battery.
