Best graphic card for Ultra Setting at 1600x900

In desperate need of a graphic card.
I want to play games on very high to Extreme setting at 40fps (min), so looking for a suitable graphic card, preferably ATI Radeon.

Games being considred:
Batman Arkham Asylum, City & upcoming
Assassins creed series
Hit man, crysis, Tomb Raider (latest)

Most important, I will never put a dual monitor setup, no crossfire, max resolution will be 1600x900.

Please suggest a card suitable for this. I was considering the Radeon HD 7850, but it seems like an overkill.

  1. 7850 is perfect, go for it.
  2. a 7850 would be perfect. Provided you already have the power supply and a somewhat ok gaming processor. Without knowing the specs to your system though. us recommending a 7850 isnt a good idea.
  3. Hi :)

This is my card, and its definitely overkill...lol..$1000 ish >>>> http://www.powercolor.com/us/products_features.asp?id=423

    All the best Brett :)
  4. What are you looking to spend? If you can afford the 7850 then you should get it , if you can afford the 7870 then you should get that. The thing to remember is that with gaming the single most important part is the video card and you should never shoot for what is just good enough because then you'll be upgrading the card every time a new game comes out or your situation changes and you get a higher resolution monitor.
here is no over kill with a single card, you only get that with two and three cards and the dual gpu cards. With a more powerfull card you are able to use more and higher settings like adding 8x faa instead of 4x and so on.
So it all depends on your budget and what your willing to spend.
  5. please inform us about the PSU you currently have
  6. I have a Corsair Cx430 V2.
Another competition that has creeped into my head is the GeForce 660 Ti!
I will not mind getting it, provided it will give me awesome results!
  7. for gtx 660ti you need to get new 500w psu
