Current build:

CPU: A10 5800k
MoBo: MSI FM2-A85XA-G65
RAM: 8GB 1333Hz - 2 sticks
PSU: Corsair GS600W
GPU: Sapphire HD 6870
Monitor: Samsung 23" - single.

Should I go ahead and sell my 6870 and buy 2 HD7770 Vapor X OC?

I play games specially Dirt 2 and 3 - yeah, these are old games.

Please let me know what are your thoughts about my current build, pros and cos, about the CF-ing to 7770 for this build..

Thanks!

CF 7770's should net you at least a 30% improvement in most games, although the 6870 works very well in the older games.. The 7770 scales really well in CF, approaching 100%. The 2gb 7770's can be had for about $150 each, and the new 7790's 1gb will be about the same price.

Why do you want two 7770s?

They're $130 each, which means it'd cost you $260... add $10 more and you have a 7950, or save $20 and get a 7870XT.

It's ALWAYS better to get the most powerful single-gpu solution you can; crossfire and SLI both have so many issues that they should be viewed as a last resort for when a single high-end card can't get the job done.

if you are playing older games, chances are crossfire won't scale as well, which means a single more powerful card would be much better, a 7870 would be your best bet, a 7870 xt even better.

So, yes, they're starting to scale better...

However, you're still going to have ALL the same problems that plague crossfire and SLI, including the fact that many games still don't support it - meaning that when you play those games, the second graphics card is useless to you.

Thanks..

DarkSable - would you recommend me PowerColor PCS+ HD7850 2GB GDDR5 vs 2 of Sapphire HD7770 Vapor X OC instead? thanks.

NOTE: By the way guys, sorry for my English.. please correct if you see something is wrong.

No, because that's comparing a $180 card to a $260+ dual-card setup. I'd suggest something like I already have - a 7870XT or 7950, which are a comparable price to two 7770s.

a better single card is a much better idea than crossfire 7770's. crossfire gives an inflated FPS figure in benchmarks but does not give as smooth performance as a comparable single card due to dropped frames and stuttering caused by uneven frame rendering.

I'll think about it.. Thank you so much! \m/

Are you seeing any bottlenecks if I choose 7870XT or 7950 with my current build?

The 7950 might bottleneck a little bit, but the 7870XT would be fine. (And any bottleneck on either would be less than forcing the CPU to try to deal with two cards, which is much more stressful for it.)

DO NOT GET TWO CARDS! I REPEAT, DO NOT GET TWO CARDS. From my experience, I would not get two cards. Micro stutter is everywhere and most games do not take proper advantage. I have to turn my second card off to play most games. Skyrim, BO II, Metro. Just about every game stutters unless I disable one card. Just a word of advice, always get the single bets card you can afford.
