Went through troubleshooting thread. Still having boot problem.

Hey all,
So I am working on my first build here and am having some issues. I have gone through quite a few steps trying to figure out what is going on but the pc is not booting. 2 short beeps no video input. I am using a 24 pin connector and have the 4 pin hooked up. I have checked the voltage, Power SW, Reset SW, LED, speaker etc. All the fans turn on as well as my standby light on the mobo. I am using a monitor with a VGA connection and have tried plugging it into both the mobo and graphics card. The monitor works on my other comp so at this point I am lost. Thanks for your help!

More about troubleshooting thread boot problem
  1. What MB/PSU/CPU/GPU? I haven't seen MB without a 4pin in a long time.
  2. When you say no 4pin cpu.
    Is this an older system?
Everything after Intel P3 Tualatin and Athlon socket 462 needs a 4 or 8 pin cpu power connector.
  3. Sorry guys I was unclear. I have the 24pin plus the 4 pin connected. I am now receiving 2 short beeps on POST but no video. I cant seem to find a beep code for the mobo this is what i am using. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131795

2 short beeps is usually a memory problem.
Try reinstalling sticks one at a time and booting.
Are you sure you have them in the correct slots. Some motherboards are very picky about which slots are populated.
  5. OK re-installed everything. Now I have 1 beep and then three short. Took video card out and the bios popped up on the monitor. Does this mean that i have a bad graphics card?
  6. Are you plugging the monitor cable to the video card or the motherboard when the error occurs?
  7. I have it plugged into the motherboard. I disconnected the pci-e for the gpu and finally got the bios screen. Im installing the OS right now and am going to try to just install the video card if everything with the OS goes well. I'm making progress just a little bit worried now that the video card might be bad.
