Hi All - I have an ATI Radeon HD 1GB 5450 graphics card. It has 3 ports - 1 x DVI, 1 x HDMI and 1 x VGA port at the back of my PC.

I woudl like to hook up 3 monitors - 2 x VGA (only) LCDs, 1 x VGA/HDMI/DVI LED.

The system works fine with the two VGA monitors. I have a VGA to DVI adaptor connected to one of the VGA monitors.

I recently bought a BenQ RL2450H LED monitor with VGA/DVI/HDMI input ports on the back and have been unable to get the computer to recognise the 3rd monitor.

After searching these forums (they are a great discovery by the way, thanks to all who contribute), I think it's because the video card can only use 2 ports at a time.

Is this correct? Do I need to get a new video card? or is there something I am missing?

If I need a new card, can anyone recommend a card which will accept all of my three monitors.

I don't use it for gaming, I just want 3 desktops for business purposes.

Any help would be appreciated?

thanks

Fred

With 5000 series Radeons you can only connect the third monitor to a single card with a display port, and that obviously doesn't work for you. With your GPU's outputs, I think the easiest and cheapest option would just be to add another low-end GPU. What motherboard do you have?

Thanks for the quick replies .. this forum rules !! ;-)

my motherboard is: HA65M-UD3H-B3 (Gigabyte Technology Co)

I actually also have an Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT from an old PC. Do you think it would work to put this old video card in my PC given that my other video card is a Radeon?

thanks again !!
