Is this reasonable rig for gaming?

Hello. I'd like to hear your opinion on the following computer

XFX Core Edition PRO 550W
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3
AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz
Thermalright HR-02 Macho Rev.A
Corsair Vengeance LP Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 DIMM CL9
WD Blue 1 TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0GB/s
Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB
Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit English OEM

And either PowerColor Radeon HD 7950 PCS+ 3 GB
or Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 Ti OC Windforce 2X 2GB

I already have Antec Sonata III 500, CD/DVD drive and Dell 24" Ultrasharp.

For gaming, you would get more performance out of an AMD 8350, as those chips perform FAR better than any AMD chips and a little better than some Intel chips. You're gunna have fanboys coming in here telling you to scrap the AMD chip for an Intel, but for a budget system, AMD is the way to go.

Besides that, I would recommend changing the SSD to a Cruical M4 or an Adata SX900, as those are the best for the money right now, and I would also suggest the Radeon 7950 PCS+ because that is a great card if you can find it for cheap.

FX 8350 would be cool, but I can't afford it; at least not right now. I just noticed that Radeon 7950 PCS+ might be just too long into Sonata 3 500. Thank you.

Good advice on the Crucial M4, and yes, the 7950 is a great card.

That being said, this made me laugh SO hard. You say that AMD is the way to go for a budget build... so he should upgrade to a processor that only costs $20 less than an i5-3570k?

Ok that's understandable. But, as your system is now, the FX-6300 will bottleneck your graphics card. In order to get you the performance that you are expecting, you would have to get an 8350. To get the money in order to upgrade your CPU, you could either downgrade the GPU or the SSD.

Thanks for info, Dupont. Samsung 840 (non-pro) and Kingston V300 are the cheapest SSD in MindFactory ($106.40). Without SSD I could easily upgrade my CPU.
