Hi, I have an ASUS P5Q motherboard and trying to use an Intel SSD X25M 160 gb hard disk as a boot disk, but the board Bios does not recognize the SSD.

I looked for drives of the hd, but does not worked. I could not find any bios update for my board. I just trying to update the IDE hard disk replacing by this SSD.

Any idea that can help me? Or this board does not support an SSD HD?

Thanks in advance,
Nin.

Hi, thanks for answer.

I connected to my laptop as an external usb using a enclosure and worked as expected. I formated the hd as ntfs and any problem in the laptop.
But when I put into the MB P5Q, its Bios does not see it. I had changed the cables, and does not worked.

Hi, again,
I found it!!

This is what happends with this board :
At orange and white sata sockets you can connect the sata HD and BluRay Rom or Media. You must connect into the Red sata sockets to get them work.

If you connect only the Media Rom into the white or the orange one, the bios will not detect the ssd, but the Media rom will be recognized.
If you connect the SSD HD into the Orange or the White one, the bios will not recognize the HD.

Solution, connect the SSD HD in one of the red ones.

Thanks you,
Nin.

Hi,
I do not have to update my bios.
Just pick the hd to one of the red sata sockets, so the CD/DVD/BRD to the orange or white sata connector, or even clear, connect both to the red ones only.

Thanks,
Nin.

You are almost right, my friend.
In my case, I connected my SSD to a random red sata port, but the bios never detected my SSD.
It only detected my SSD when I connected to the first red sata port.
