Okay, I have wanted to build a gaming PC for a while now, I just never knew what to put in it to be able to get good performance. I need a build that will give me the most power possible while being under 1000 dollars. In the build I also need a monitor and OS. A SSD is not required, but if you can fit one in the budget that would be great. I won't have the money for the computer until August or September, so I figure prices will go down by then.

I would want to play relatively modern games, along with a lot of older ones (at the time I would get the computer I would play games like Borderlands 2, Fallout 3/New Vegas, Bioshock Infinite, Bioshock 1/2, etc...).

Thanks in advance for any builds.

Hi lastcourier,

It's time for me to try my hand at this ahahaha. Is this price ($1000 and below) including shipping and handling ***and tax? Where do you live? Are you going to overclock or anything like that? Do you have any preferences? (Screen size, Crossfire/SLI) Are you near like a Microcenter or anything like that? Do you have a faint idea of what compoenets and such you want?

Also, are you planning to record/edit videos? Do you need a lot of storage space?

I don't know where you live so you'll have to figure out tax and S&H and stuff. I'll just give you some products you might want to look at. Also you should use sites such as Newegg.com, Tigerdirect.com, PcPartPicker.com, and NCIX.com.

I don't have any particular preferences for hardware. I won't do any video editing or anything along those lines, I would just game and do some normal things like search the web. I don't need more than 1TB of storage, and I would like a 1080p monitor at around 24 inches. I live in Phoenix, so there are a couple of places that I might be able to find parts without ordering them online. I have no preference in terms of websites, whatever has the best deal on any particular item is what I'll go with. Thanks in advance, hope you can come up with something that will suit what I would like.

MONITOR: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=38845&vpn=VH236H&manufacture=ASUS&promoid=1334 $133.99

Kind of expensive but comes with speakers I believe and its 1080

GPU:GTX 660 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125443 <-$183.99 after rebate
OR
GTX 660ti http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127696 $269.99<- With rebate

Either of these can most likely play Bioshock Infinite. You can look up on youtube people with similar specs as yours and see how well they run it.

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020 <-$59.99 With rebate and code
OR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182263 <- $74.99 with rebate

I'm pretty sure either of these will be able to power your setup unless you decide to SLI/Crossfire later on.
You can use these PSU Calculators if need be.

OR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144 $55.99 <---With this one you can bundle Windows 7 with it and save $5 apparently.

RAM is your decision I just went with how much you would probably ever need.

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1243071 $144.99 ( Comes with gaming mat)

OR

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504 $219.99 <-Highly rated but more expensive. I'll let you do the research on what CPU you want.

SSD: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=75140&vpn=SDSSDP-064G-G25&manufacture=SANDISK&promoid=1334 $59.99
This is for your OS and maybe a little bit extra software or you could spend some extra money and buy a bigger SSD.

I even did the math for you! (kind of)(While neglecting my homework hahahaha):
The lowest price using these parts (using the Memory and OS combo -$5) is around $956.89 not including shipping and handling and tax. It leaves around $50 for tax and S&H and stuff like that.
The highest price would be $1202.89 not including tax, S&H.

Again, this is only a reference build for you. I don't know if you'll want to buy as is or whatever.

Since you aren't going to buy it right away, keep your eyes on Newegg, NCIX, Tigerdirect, Microcenter, PCPartPicker, and any local stores for better and more amazing deals (especially Newegg shellshockers and Tigerdirect price slasher)

Don't be frustrated if it takes you awhile, it took me like 3 months to gather all the parts for my computer since I am a college student on a budget =/.

I don't really know how to format this so I'm terribly sorry if this is hard to read. If you have any questions or stuff like that feel free to PM me or post here or something. (Even though I'm terrible at remembering to check) I will try to answer/ provide help for anything to the best of my abilities as I am also an amateur builder (I JUST finished building my first build...so many frustrations and my GPU has coil whine D:).

I hope I helped you one way or another and I wish you luck with your build. Remember to make sure everything works in tandem/ is reliable before buying them and if you're not sure post in the forums and I'm sure one of these amazingly intelligent people will help!
