Hey hey, don't draw the OP to come to the dark side.... :D
O.C. always has it's risk especially when u start tinkering the voltage..
It'll the best to remind people of the risk, before they start to try O.C. -ing (peoples seems to forget this...)

the best u can get now is FX-8350, u may need to update the bios first before can use it...

Huh?

You have one beastly motherboard there mate. You need to flash the bios though, it will not recognize FX processors unless updated.
And great news for you, the top AMD processor, the FX8350 is only 200usd right now on most places.
Yes, it is cheap, but it is not lacking in performance at all.

Go for it, you will enjoy it :)

Actually your cpu is still very good, overclock it to 3.8 - 4ghz and wait for the next gen of amd processors.

how can i say this.... I dont overclock for any reason! did it once...hell broke loss, tried to RMA it and instead got a Null and VOID and had to sit on a dead GPU for about month untill i got bought a different brand.

So thank you but no over clocking over here.

Yup, even if I suggest the immediate choice, Excella's suggestion is better.
Didn't catch that the OP was using a quite decent cpu, so an update isn't really necessary.
You will notice a difference, but it is minimal.

If you're in a hurry, get the 8350 but if not, I'd wait with the Phenom. As said above, with that motherboard, you can achieve some excellent overclocks. And the motherboard will still be good with the next gen FX chips, so no worries from that end.

Your overclocking experience will largely depend on your CPU cooler.
If you are using the default hsf then do not overclock the Phenom, the old manufacturing process tends to get pretty hot and unstable. But if you can get a mid range cooler, something like a Hyper 212Evo or something along those lines, you experience will be optimal.

Read a few guides before overclocking anyway. Only try things others have had success with and always work within you confidence margin. Expand those margins by educating yourself on overclock, it is quite fun actually.

In this day and age, we still have people that say this?!

I had an 1055t for a loooong time, @ 3.8 ghz.

Overclocking is quite safe and profitable! XD

Just make sure you buy and aftermarket cpu cooler, and read some guides/watch some overclocking videos!

I'm curious what gpu did you try to overclock?
