Approximate Purchase Date: No Idea

Budget Range: $1000-$1600(can be adjusted)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: I would use this for gaming and watching videos/small video editing.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I like newegg but could probably use anything (with-in reason).

Location: Seattle WA, United States of America

Overclocking: If you can give me good reasons to, and tell me how to/where I could figure it out.

SLI or Crossfire: Same as above, but you would also have to tell me what it is.

Additional Comments: I would like it to be somewhat small, like a mid tower

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Right now i have a crappy laptop.

First of all, you have two PSU on your build, and no ram, so you should exchange one of them for a 8 Gb dual channel DDR3 like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233199 I personaly like the low voltage one's as it stress less on intel processors.

Secondary, you're graphics card is an entry level and on the other hand you have a high end proc and HDD. As you have already an SSD, just cut on the HDD which is a way to expensive to a black one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533. You should save around 120$ that can be invested on the graphic card to one like : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130809, will be a little bit faster (3 tiers higher on Tom hierarchy)

Every thing else seems quite ok for that kind of build. You should be ok for a few years, with room to add some more ram and storage, and maybe a graphic upgrade in 2-3 years.

don't look down on the i5 for video editing, it will get you through very smoothly so no need for i7 unless you are doing hardcore stuff.

7970 comes with 2 free games(bioshock inf and crysis 3) and is fairly good with video editing and just a beast in terms of performance for gaming.

PS:this 7970 can be BIOS switched to a GHz version to make it have unlocked voltage.

a 550W for $119 is a rip, get this XFX(seasonic OEM) PSU which is pretty nice and the fan doesn't turn on until it needs to

10k RPM drives are useless, the performance gain vs a 7.2k is pretty much nothing

Paying the $20 premium for the 840 pro is worth it IMO, gives you solid warranty and amazing speed

Motherboard: you do not really need a high end motherboard, most you would need would be an ASrock extreme4 unless you are looking to put a whole bunch of drives into your system.

Ya I messed up pretty bad. Thanks for the link and the feedback. Are there any ways I could lower the price without sacrificing quality? Do you think I could get a cheaper processor? Thanks in advance.

Thanks this looks nice. Will look into it some more. Do you have windows 8? I heard it was bad, but I'm open for anything.

+1 this is how I would have built it... though the 850w is WAY overkill even if you plan on CFx for the 7970s.

I put inside 850W because i am thinking he will be overclocking the GPUs, with the unlocked voltage, i would be thinking at least +40W each card.
