Helped my brother put together a brand new computer roughly a month ago. From the day I left, he has been plagued with random restarts (not constant, ranging from 3-9 a week).

Basic specs off the top of my head:
CPU: Intel I7
Ram: Gskill 4x4gb
Mobo: Asus 77 chipset
GPU: Nvidia 670gtx
PSU: 550w
HDD: 1TB (single drive)
USB WiFI (Cisco)

Windows 7 ultimate.

Now, I've tried uninstalling GPU drivers, reinstall gpu drivers, fresh install of windows with all up to date drivers off the web.. he still gets them. The report below shows only 4gb of memory (this is from when I was trying to diagnose if ram was an issue and only had 1 stick installed). Still in the processes of checking the ram... any other ideas? It clearly points to the driver causing the crash but it could be a variety of things.

Whocrashed reports:

windows version: Windows 7 Service Pack 1, 6.1, build: 7601
windows dir: C:\Windows
CPU: GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz Intel586, level: 6
8 logical processors, active mask: 255
RAM: 4238176256 total
VM: 2147352576, free: 1958637568

Tested all the ram.. checked out ok. Checked slots on the mobo after in singles, doubles and all four. No errors.

My brother thinks its the usb wifi adapter as it seems to only happen while playing games online, not really sure how to test that though..

Also, reseated bthe video card and power connections.

Atomicwar,

That will be our next step. The motherboard comes with 3 different USB controllers.. 2 slots off brand USB3.0, 2 slots Intel USB3.0 and 2 slots Intel USB2.0.

Nothing really seems to work stable in the off brand 3.0 slots, and the WiFi adapter was plugged into an Intel USB3.0 slots (I know they're suppose to be backwards compatible, but seeing as it wouldn't work in the offbrand slots at all.. just working off a hunch).

So, currently the WiFi adapter is plugged into a USB 2.0 slot. My brother has instruction to contact me immediately after a restart if it happens again. I'll update later this week if anything happens!

Other things we did yesterday:
sfc /scannnow -> no problems
checkdisk -> No errors
GPU stress test with furmark -> No gpu driver stops

Again, I'll udate later this week. Thanks for all the help so far!

Dustin
