Hi all

I just need some help as I would like to upgrade my system from Windows 7 32 to 64 bit as I am using it for games and they crash due to low memory...

As the the system requirements, they have all been met. All i need is another HDD to use and transfer my data to (I am ordering as we speak) and then use the smaller one to boot from.

I just need some help on how to proceed with this.

I am getting the copy of Windows 7 64 bit from my company which have supplied it, I just need to download it and get the product key. So it will NOT come from a disc, it comes from a download which may make it harder to do stuff. (? I'm not sure)

What are the steps required in order to save my data and to upgrade to the 64 bit.
If you need any more information, I will hopefully be able to clarify and supply it.

Thanks for all your help.

Are you upgrading your memory? I ask because if your system is really crashing due to low memory moving to 64Bit won't make things any better. Should be a bit worse actually.

As for the process you either burn the .ISO to a disk or put on a USB stick and boot from USB if your motherboard supports that. After that its just like installing windows.

Steps:
1. Make windows disc from digital download ISO.
2. Copy all contents of existing HDD to new HDD
3. Run windows install disk from boot, not from within windows.
4. Do a clean install, preferably formatting the drive (make sure its not the new one with all the data on it)

I commented on your other post about the same thing.

I'm worried about your crashing comment. While not impossible you usually just have a big slow down when this happens. You might be upgrading for all the wrong reasons.

.iso is a type of file. From my understanding when you buy windows online you'll get a file like "Windows.iso" You need to use Nero or an iso burning tools to put it on a disk. (or possibly to extract it to the thumb drive.)
