Upgrading to Windows 8

I've seen that it costs almost half the price to get Windows 8 by upgrading from Windows 7 rather than buying a whole new copy. But can I purchase an Upgrade License and use it to upgrade from my pirated copy of Windows 7 to a legit version of Windows 8? Give me some help on this guys!

Legally i dont exactly think that is possible or allowed.
What is the point of spending cash to get a legal copy by using an illegal software?

Just buy win7, win8 has really nothing impressive, or new, or innovative, its popularity is well below vista (march counted 2.x% usage for win8 and 5.x% usage for vista) because most people understand that when they buy a computer they expect it to behave like one.

I finally can afford overpriced Windows software that's why I'm thinking of actually buying it. I can't "walk the plank" without money. Whether Windows 8 is better for me than Windows 7 or not let me be the judge of that. I just need to know if I could have Windows 8 without giving 100e.
