The problem is the motherboard on the original xps730 motherboard tray has no lip allowing for E-ATX or XL-ATX motherboards. I was planning on getting a e8600 3.3Ghz Intel core2 duo for some mediocre gaming. The chipset is Nvidia nForce 790i. I was wondering which motherboards will work with this set up. I'm looking for a motherboard that can handle future upgrades and stay consistent with the times but my budget is fairly low. Right now I'm using an e8400 cpu that's kinda fried so yeah..
by the way: I'm using a Wolfdale with an e8400 with Nvidia nforce 790i technology.

Do you want just change MOBO or upgrade existing processor to something much better? Say quad? Let me see if it is possible, since you noticed that not every motherboard can be mounted, also take into consideration that Dell sourced operational system would not work on non Dell motherboard, so you know.
