After a gaming session at a friends house I plugged everything back in when I got home. The computer started just fine, but there was no internet. I went to check the modem and I noticed that the ethernet light was turned off, I tried rebooting the computer to no avail. I also deactivated the network card and went to restart the modem. Now the light was on! So the conclusion is: Ethernet not working when its connected to the computer, ethernet working when its not connected to the computer.
Note: I tried using several ethernet cables, and connecting it to my neighbors modem, not working.
