Is my motherboard dead? [Please respond ASAP]

During the past few weeks, about a minute after I turned on my PC it would black screen. Then I would reset it and it would work fine and as such I would just brush it off since it only happened every few days. However this time it won't turn back on!

I have come to the conclusion that my motherboard is dead based on these things:

-My i5-3570k is made by intel, and I have never had an AMD or Intel CPU break.
-My 7970 OC has been working fine, and it wouldn't cause this.
-My memory has also been fine and would not cause this.
-My HDD and SSD wouldn't cause an issue like this.
-My PSU is a brand new Seasonic 850w 80+ Gold with a 7 year warranty. Since my front lights, GPU, and fans all turn on I don't think it could be my PSU.

So am I correct? Is it my motherboard? Also is there anything I can do to possibly fix it so I don't have to send the dam thing in?

Thanks...

P.S. My Mobo is an ASRock Z77 Pro4-m

I love Asus too Brett but had back to back issues with DOA boards so gave ASRock a run and can't complain. But CaptainTom save yourself the agony of sitting there picking your brain and slamming your head against the keyboard and RMA the board. It'll save you time and like I stated above ASRock has a sweet RMA department just give them a call.

it could be your motherboard...but don't rule out PSU so quickly....even they can go bad early or be defective....if you can get your hands on a power-supply tester it could tell you if it is or is not the issue. don't just guess...rule out one at a time

Sounds like motherboard issues to me. I assumed PSU off the bat but you said that's ok. Contact ASRock they are really good about warranties and actually pretty nice to you as well only downfall is you pay the shipping to get it back to them. But hands down I've heard a lot of people I know having issues with the ASrock Z77 Pro4. Just one other thing if you haven't already test your memory this could cause this issue. Doesn't hurt to try and beats having to send your MB back.

Well I left it off all night, and this morning it turned on fine again. Thus I think it works and that was just a fluke. However that leaves a few more questions:

Was that just a short circuit or what?

What do mean a lot of people have been having problems? How many times have you seen this, and is it ASRock or just this specific board?

Hi :)

It will PROBABLY happen again...

We wont sell Asrock mobos in my shops at all.... which shows what I think of them as in my shops WE guarantee everything we sell (personally) and I WOULDN'T sell an Asrock if you paid me....

Buy Asus...

All the best Brett :)

Also CaptainTom the specific board the ASRock Pro4 has had lot's of not working out of the package complaints and dimm slots not working which is why I went with the Extreme 4.

Two days of zero problems. I am at college so I am gonna keep it. If it happens worse durring summer I will send it in. Also I have by coincidence always owned ASRock and I love their interface, prices, and configurations. I just hope they never betray me... ;)

Hey if you can ride it out go for it. Just sucks when things aren't running right and it just becomes annoying to deal with issues. And I doubt they'll betray you and I do like ASRock as well. They've come a long way in my opinion.
