I have finally given up trying to get my mobo to see all my ram and am looking to upgrade a little. OC and gaming oriented, lg1366, cross fire and six dimms. (want to recycle as much as possible from the current system). Price range is around $300 or less. Also how is the Asus Rampage II (or III) Extreme?

Get what you can afford, especially if you're not overclocking. Here's some boards; premium boards on ebay may not be worth it.

I would not spend much more than $100 on a board whose cpu is at the end of life cycle in case the cpu fails. Overclocking is not worth paying a premium for. I've used foxconn and ecs boards if they are the only brands left that are brand new; I'm also seeing good deals on the 2500k on craigslist if you care to change cpus now.
