Which speakers to go with

Building a rig for my dad and trying to decide on the speakers.

Was recommended m-audio av40, audio engine a2 and swan m200mkIII.

Also I'm probably going with http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz77xud3h as the mobo so would a sound card be needed or recommended for better quality?

Well considering that I suggested these, I might as well give my opinion. As far as a sound card goes, I don't really believe in sound cards. If you are looking for better sound than what you get from the speakers (which is pretty good), I would get a DAC. As for which of the speakers to get, if you can find Swan mkIII's get them, but if not, the Audioengine A2's are the way to go.
